Highlights

The Helmsman 38E Pilothouse is a unique single stateroom, two head layout with a full-beam salon, providing an exceptionally roomy interior. The hull is a semi-displacement, full-keeled, soft-chined design with a sturdy skeg and a large skeg-hung rudder making it highly maneuverable and tolerant of grounding. Movement around the exterior is safe and easy with port and starboard pilothouse doors, protective bulwarks, strong and high welded handrails, and wide, gentle steps to the flybridge. The cockpit is protected by a hardtop and high bulwarks and transom. Side entry doors into the cockpit simplify boarding.

Simplicity and reliability are the governing mechanical and electrical principles — a very serviceable single diesel engine in a roomy and easily-accessed engineroom, protected running gear, and top quality, well-proven equipment.

Notable interior features include a spacious salon, galley and dinette, a pilothouse with good visibility aft and with its own dinette, two heads, including separate master head and shower compartments, exceptional joinery and finishing throughout, and opening windows — all but four windshield windows open, and most have screens.

Notable exterior features include a topside boat deck with crane, flybridge with twin pedestal helm seats and L-shaped settee, a retractable radar mast and bimini (which allow the airdraft to be reduced to less than 12′), and a gleaming ceramic coated hull and superstructure.
